The Hellenic Museum was founded in 2007 to promote an understanding and appreciation for the rich cultural traditions of ancient and contemporary Greece.
The museum displays a variety of Hellenistic antiquities in its permanent exhibition, spanning thousands of years. It also has an ongoing program of current exhibitions examining Greek culture, arts and history, and the story of Greek settlement in Australia.
The museum is housed in the extremely grand former Royal Mint building, built in the late 1860s and later used as a Melbourne's registry office for civil wedding ceremonies.
